Kim Kardashian’s Latest ‘Raspberry Cream’ Nails Are So Unexpected

Like the rest of her beauty looks, Kim Kardashian’s nails are often bold. She’s been known to sport long, almond- and coffin-shaped styles that grab your attention (she even added a bedazzled “P” to a Barbie pink manicure once in honor of her then-boyfriend Pete Davidson). But at the season 2 premiere of All’s Fair this week, Kardashian stepped out with short, square-shaped nails in an opaque light pink colour. We’re dubbing them “raspberry cream” nails.

“It’s a beautiful interpretation of futuristic minimalism, featuring a soft, milky, almost aquatic pink with a delicate translucency,” says celebrity nail technician and creator of eNailCouture Max Estrada. “I believe the decision to keep the nails short was very intentional. The manicure wasn’t necessarily meant to be the focal point. Instead, it allowed the extraordinary jewellery and the other elements of the look to take centre stage.”

And while square nails have taken a backseat to more rounded shapes like almond in recent years, Estrada says that when paired with feminine colours like raspberry cream, they can work beautifully. “Square nails have a certain architectural quality, but when the edges are gently softened, as they are here, they can communicate incredible delicacy and softness,” he says. “In this particular manicure, the square silhouette feels refined rather than severe.” Orly manicurist Riyah Martin agrees, calling short and square nails “cute and chic.”

To re-create the look, start with a short, square nail and buff out the corners. “The idea is to retain that beautiful square architecture while removing any harshness from the edges,” says Estrada. “For the colour, I would apply a thin layer of semi-sheer pink, followed by a delicate milky pink to create that ethereal, translucent neo-milky effect.” Add a glossy top coat, and to emulate Kardashian, be sure to finish with sparkly jewellery.
