I rarely expect my foundation to look exactly the same at 9am and 6pm. Between a full day at work and Mumbai’s humidity, makeup has a way of doing its own thing. Some days, my base holds up; on others, I can see it settling around my nose or looking a little patchy. So, I was curious to try Etude’s Double Lasting Hydrating Foundation and Double Lasting Powder Cushion, two new additions to my makeup routine. I tested both over a couple of days, paying attention to the finish, texture and how they felt on my skin. Here is what stood out to me.
A Closer Look At the Base

The Double Lasting Hydrating Foundation is made for anyone who likes a matte base but does not want their skin to feel uncomfortably dry. It is designed to offer a smooth, even-looking finish without the cakey appearance that can sometimes come with fuller coverage. What I find interesting is the idea of combining a defined matte finish with hydration. I tend to prefer base makeup that looks like my actual skin, rather than a layer sitting on top of it. This foundation fits into that conversation, particularly for days when I want a little more coverage without going overboard with concealer, powder and everything in between. As always, the result will depend on your skin type and how you prep your skin beforehand. A good moisturiser can make a difference to how any foundation sits, especially if you have dry patches.
The Cushion Question
The Double Lasting Powder Cushion takes a slightly different approach to base makeup, combining foundation and powder in a compact format. It is designed to give the skin a soft matte finish while keeping it comfortable. I also appreciate the practicality of a cushion compact. It is easier to carry in your handbag than a bottle of foundation and a separate powder, particularly when you are heading straight from work to dinner and have little time for a full makeup refresh. The format is convenient, although I would still pay attention to how much product I apply. With any cushion, building up thin layers is usually a better idea than trying to cover everything in one go.
My Two Cents

After a couple of days with these products, I would say they are worth considering if you gravitate towards soft matte base makeup. I have not tested either for a full 24 hours, so I cannot vouch for the longevity claims, and foundation will always be a fairly personal choice. Ultimately, I would rather have makeup that works with my routine than a formula that promises to do everything. And that, for me, is always a more useful place to start.
