Rhea Kapoor thoughtfully repurposed her mother Sunita Kapoor’s antique kurta and dupatta into a contemporary set. The top’s neckline, intricately embroidered with zari, is embellished with zari, sequins, beads and metallic accents. The ombré pants, fashioned as billowy, flare leg designs akin to a sharara, look equal parts comfortable and stylish. Kapoor layered the ensemble with the restored gold embroidered dupatta. Nearly 500 artisan hours went into restoring and reconstructing heirloom creation. Stylist Manisha Melwani accessorised the look with a statement necklace by Uttarakhand-based jewellery label Vasundhra Raj, a ring from Symetree, a clutch by Meera Mahadevia and her mother’s vintage chandelier earrings, reinforcing the ensemble’s deeply personal narrative.
