Rashmika Mandanna attended a wedding ceremony alongside partner Vijay Deverakonda—and, no, that was not the only reason her appearance created headlines. For the occasion, the actor was spotted in a velvet floor-length anarkali from New Delhi-based designer Sureena Chowdhri, which is apropos of the upcoming fall/winter season.
The anarkali features an ornate, heavily-embroidered yoke with a plunging neckline and velvet kalis. The top is embellished with zardozi work, bugle beads, glass beads, sequins and aari work in floral motifs that cover the fabric in entirety. The kalis are alternate panels of wine- and green-coloured velvet fabric, which flare out from the waist and end at the floor with gold-embroidered border. The back of the anarkali—or lack thereof—is especially statement, featuring an open design that extends all the way down to the waist and is tied together with just dori.
Mandanna completed the look with a matching velvet dupatta in wine colour with intricate bugle bead and zardozi embroidery in floral vine-inspired designs.
For accessories, the stylist Gaurvi Satyarthy chose a polki and pearl choker with bedazzled tassels and diamond bangle from Jaipur-based jewellery brand Raniwala 1881. Her makeup was simple, with fresh, dewy skin and a strong eye stained with an earthy, brown eyeshadow. A bindi completed her beauty look while her naturally long and straight hair was further straightened to add to its length.
Mandanna and Deverakonda, who have quickly risen to become pop-culture’s favourite low-key couple, left the world impressed with fashion and jewellery at their intimate wedding ceremony that was still rooted in tradition and paid homage to their respective South Indian heritage. Mandanna, who turns to traditional occasion wear from time to time for red carpet to promotional appearances, continues to do so with her choice of garments and supporting accessories.
