PM Modi speaks to U.K. counterpart Burnham

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his British counterpart Andy Burnham on Friday (July 31, 2026) vowed to take the India-U.K. comprehensive strategic partnership to “new heights” and fully harness the trade and investment opportunities presented by the recently operationalised bilateral trade deal.
In a phone conversation, both the leaders agreed “to take the India-U.K. comprehensive strategic partnership to new heights”.
“We will collaborate closely to fully harness trade and investment opportunities presented by the India-U.K. trade pact,” PM Modi said.
Mr. Burnham set out his ambitions to further enhance the U.K.-India relationship, the U.K. said in a statement on his talks with PM Modi.
