Kareena Kapoor Khan and Ananya Panday made a case for brown smokey eyes this week in beauty

This week in beauty belonged to brown eyeshadow, from soft neutral washes to rich chocolate tones, as seen on Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ananya Panday, Diana Penty and more. The colour did not always translate into a classic smokey eye, instead taking shape through diffused outer corners, lash lining and more concentrated washes of brown. Hair followed a similarly undone mood, moving from brushed out waves to textured updos with loose strands framing the face. Together, the looks offered plenty of ways to wear the season’s subtler take on brown or “mocha mousse” makeup, making for a beauty moodboard worth bookmarking.

The chocolatey brown makeup look sported by Ananya Panday was complimented by brushed-out, big, loose waves, falling into a voluminous, undone blowout. The complexion was bronzed with a fresh, airbrushed foundation, while a dewy body bronzer added to the sun-kissed glow. Her eyes were wrapped in warm brown shadow with a softer shade diffused across the lids before deepening into a rich chocolate brown towards the outer corners and along the lash lines. A sleek winged eyeliner sharpened the look, while a touch of shimmer at the inner corners opened up the eyes. Terracotta blush was swept across the high points of the cheeks and blended into the bronzed complexion, while contour along the cheekbones, temples and forehead added definition. Her lips were lined and filled in with a brown-toned nude and topped with a sheer berry gloss. Long, almond-shaped nails in a milky white shade kept the look classic, while carefully placed highlighter added a soft glow to the high points of the face.

Sanya Malhotra’s slightly undone makeup look featured naturally brushed brows and a wash of warm brown eyeshadow that extended to the lower lash line and diffused into a neutral tone through the crease. The eyeliner was kept soft and smudged into the shadow, while a touch of shimmer at the inner corners added a glam element. A fresh, sheer base kept the complexion natural, with a soft rosy blush bringing warmth to the cheeks. Her nails were kept short with a beige manicure, while smudged brown lip liner defined a peach lip. Her hair was pulled into a messy updo with plenty of wispy pieces left loose to frame the face.

Classic glam was embraced by Kareena Kapoor Khan for this look. Her hair was worn loose in a side part with natural waves that kept the overall finish effortless. A smooth, skin-like foundation created an even base, while a touch of cool-toned pink blush added a subtle flush. Her brows were gently brushed upwards with a slightly brighter concealer under the eyes bringing light to the complexion. A soft taupe to brown smokey wash surrounded the eyes, with the colour deepening along the lash line and outer corners before diffusing upwards into a subtle champagne shimmer. Liner along the upper lash line added further definition. Her pout wore a petal pink lipstick layered over a deeper pink lip liner.

Diana Penty’s desi ensemble came with warm shades of brown and textured hair. Her hair was styled into a knotted updo with loose strands framing the face. A lightweight foundation created a smooth complexion while rosy pink blush added a fresh flush. The eyes remained the focal point, with warm brown and neutral tones layered to create depth without appearing overly dramatic. The shadow was softly blended across the lids while diffused liner along both lash lines gave the eyes a smudged, lifted effect. Cheekbone sculpting added definition to the face, while warmth through the temples kept the complexion dimensional. A beige-pink nude lip tied the look together and complemented the earthy palette.
