Inside Alia Bhatt’s sari wardrobe for best friend Akansha Ranjan’s wedding

For the wedding ceremony, Bhatt turned to a custom ash-blue tiered sari by Jaipur-based designer Punit Balana. Made in crushed tissue silk, the sari featured woven buttis scattered across the body and a ruffled hem finished with a gold zari border. She draped the sari in the classic Nivi style and paired it with a matching blouse featuring cut-out detailing at the front and back—a nod to her character Rani from Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani (2023). Bhatt completed the look with chain-linked stud earrings from Jaipur-based jewellery house Kalajee, a statement maang tikka and kadas from Chandigarh-based jeweller Anmol Sandhu, and a matching potli bag by Punit Balana. For beauty, she opted for luminous skin with blushed cheeks and pink lips, while her hair was styled in a sleek bun.

Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal ajrakh sari

For the reception ceremony, Bhatt wore a custom sari with heritage ajrakh work from Mumbai-based designer Nidhi Tambi Kejriwal. The drape featured intricate mirror work and multicoloured resham embroidery across the body. Bhatt’s sari featured geometric and nature-inspired motifs, including floral forms, tree foliage and grid patterns—often spotted in the traditional block printing art form, still practiced in Gujarat’s Kutch region by specialised artisans. The actor paired it with a full-sleeve blouse featuring a sweetheart neckline and a cut-out in the back. Bhatt turned to Chand Begum—a New Delhi-based platform collecting and retailing antique jewellery pieces—for accessories that highlighted distinct regional approaches to gemstone setting, craftsmanship and design. She wore a pair of chand bali earrings embellished with rubies and polkis whose origins can be traced back to Hyderabad. For her hands, she chose 19th century kadas with enamel work, diamonds and rubies, previously belonging to a princely family from Jaipur. A maang tikka and ring from Chandigarh-based jeweller Anmol Sandhu and a black clutch by Mumbai-based label The Pink Potli completed the ensemble. Bhatt finished the look with a natural base, glossy nude-pink lips, a black bindi and sleek, open hair.
