One of India’s closely watched market veterans, Sunil Singhania, the founder of Abakkus Asset Management, added two new stocks in the first quarter of FY27, while also increasing stakes in some companies and likely exiting others during the quarter.

Shareholding data from the BSE showed that Abakkus Emerging Markets Fund picked up a 1.97% stake, or 5.66 lakh shares, in Afcom Holdings. The stock has delivered a sharp 93% gain over the past six months and has risen nearly 500% in the last year.

Afcom is an international cargo airline based in Chennai, India, that transports goods on an airport-to-airport basis, focusing on supply chain solutions across ASEAN and neighbouring countries.

The stock has gained 17% in the last month but remains down 15% over the past year. The company makes and sells pharmaceuticals, medical devices, consumer goods, protective devices and foods.

Sunil Singhania is among India’s most closely watched veteran investors, with his portfolio activity regularly drawing the attention of retail and institutional investors. His investment decisions are widely tracked as indicators of emerging opportunities and changing market sentiment.

Shareholding data for the quarter under review also showed that the fund increased its stake in Arvind Fashions by an additional 0.9% to 1.9%, taking its total shareholding to 24.82 lakh shares in the company. The stock is down 7% in 2026. The company designs, sources, markets and retails branded apparel, footwear and accessories. It manages a large portfolio of owned and licensed iconic global and domestic brands, selling products through exclusive brand stores, large-format department stores and online channels.
The fund also raised its stake in Cyient DLM, picking up an additional 0.3% and taking its holding from 1.9% to 2.2% during the quarter under review.
Cyient DLM reported a profit after tax (PAT) of Rs 16.3 crore for the first quarter of FY27, more than doubling from Rs 7.4 crore in the year-ago period and registering 118.2% year-on-year growth. The company’s revenue increased 34.3% year-on-year to Rs 373.8 crore, compared with Rs 278.4 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.

The fund manager reduced holdings in five companies, namely Suven Life, Avalon Technologies, Rupa & Company, IIFL Capital and Hindware.

The manager has likely exited stocks where holdings fell below the 1% disclosure threshold. HimatSingka Seide shares have witnessed a sharp downturn, falling 46% in the last one year, likely prompting an exit by the market expert. Sunil Singhania’s holding in Sarda Energy Minerals dipped below 1% from 1%, while SPR Auto Tech shares rallied nearly 80% in the last year, helping the fund manager book profits. He held over a 1% stake in the company.

Earlier this year, Sunil Singhania-led Abakkus Mutual Fund announced that it had crossed a significant milestone of over Rs 5,000 crore in assets under management (AUM), while its total unique investor count surpassed the 1 lakh mark. The milestone reflected growing confidence from investors and distribution partners.
