Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer felt that Pakistan got “knocked out” because of their loss to co-hosts USA earlier this month.

The Pakistan cricket team faced a shocking T20 World Cup exit after the game between Ireland and the USA in Florida was washed out. Pakistan were eliminated in the first round after managing only one win in the competition so far, against Canada. Their premature exit came as a major surprise and many former cricketers and experts have reacted to the Babar Azam-led side’s horrendous T20 World Cup 2024 journey.

Former India cricketer Wasim Jaffer felt that Pakistan got “knocked out” because of their loss to co-hosts USA earlier this month.

“Contrary to popular belief, Pakistan didn’t get knocked out because USA v IRE got rained off. They got knocked out because Pakistan lost to USA 🙂 USAvIRE T20 World Cup,” Wasim Jaffer posted on X (formerly Twitter).

Ex-Pakistan pacer Shoaib Akhtar came up with a simple one-line reaction to his country’s poor performance at the T20 World Cup. “Pakistan’s World Cup journey is over,” the ‘Rawalpindi Express’ wrote.

Former England skipper Michael Vaughan wrote, “USA through to the Super 8s. Cricket is going to catch on in the States! Pakistan are out. At the moment they are along way off being a good white ball side.”

Indian wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik praised the USA team’s brilliant World Cup run. USA, along with India, qualified for the Super Eight from Group A. Calling the development a historic one, Karthik said that very few would have thought that the USA would eventually reach the Super Eight.

“In the start of the World Cup, very few of us would have imagined USA qualifying to the super 8s. Very well deserved. What a boost this is going to be for the sport in the region. History created. Hard luck Pakistan,” Karthik wrote.

Pakistan had a terrible start to their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign succumbing to debutants USA in a Super Over. They followed it up with a heartbreaking loss to arch-rivals India in the next game. Chasing a 120-run target, Pakistan fell short by six runs.

Pakistan will next face Ireland on Sunday, June 16, in what is a dead rubber. The T20 World Cup fixture between Pakistan and Ireland is scheduled to be played at the Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground in Lauderhill, Florida.
