2026 marks the bicentennial of photography as a medium. Photography has impacted regions, cultures, identities, memories and how we consume information in every way, and NCPA’s art gallery celebrates it with a landmark exhibition. Internationally acclaimed artist, curator and researcher Sergio Valenzuela-Escobedo is presenting an interdisciplinary exhibition of photographs that explores the advent of the art in the subcontinent and its influences, beliefs and impact on the region. Featuring historical photographs and archives from colonial times, immersive sound installations and even a living archive that invites viewers to engage personally with the medium and the questions it poses, this showcase is all-encompassing.

Sculpting Lineages: Women Across Generations at Gallery Espace, New Delhi
When we think of Indian sculptures and their makers, it’s mostly male artists who come to mind. This significant exhibition in Delhi aims to change that. Featuring creations by Ira Choudhuri, Latika Katt, Poojan Gupta, Radhika Agarwala, Shambhavi and Sojwal Samant, the show delves into the themes, languages and inspirations behind their creations while also showcasing these female artists’ important contributions to the Indian art landscape. As curator Nainvi Vora aptly says, “This exhibition unearths the profound ways in which women have shaped the development of sculpture in India…by a network of affinities, continuities, ruptures and reinventions that connect sculptural practices across time”.
