28 Indians onboard Mozambique-flagged vessel safe after attack in Iranian territorial waters

A Mozambique-flagged LPG tanker, with 28 Indian crew members onboard, came under attack in Iranian territorial waters on Friday (July 24, 2026).

The Indian Embassy in Iran said it was aware of the attack on the vessel, DISHA, and confirmed that the Indian nationals were safe.

“The Embassy has been in close contact with the relevant authorities and has confirmed that all Indian crew members are safe,” the Indian Embassy said in a statement posted on X.

“The Embassy continues to monitor the situation closely and remains in touch with the concerned authorities,” it added.

Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, several commercial vessels, with Indian seafarers aboard, have come under attack.

Vessels near the Strait of Hormuz carrying Indian crew that came under attack

On July 14, an Indian national was killed and 10 others were injured, including two seriously, in Iranian attacks on two oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.

India strongly condemned the attacks on the commercial vessels MT Al Bahiyah and MT Mombasa, which had a total of 30 Indian seafarers onboard.

Fourteen Indians have died in the West Asia conflict since it began following the U.S.-Israel attack on Iran on February 28.

The attacks on the two merchant ships came two days after an Iranian attack on the Cyprus-flagged container ship GFS Galaxy left an Indian crew member missing.

Three Indian seafarers were killed in a U.S. attack off the coast of Oman last month on the commercial tanker Settebello, which had 24 Indian crew members on board.
